Father Owen's Homilies
Homily for Good Friday, March 29, 2002 Some question the use of the term Good Friday to name this day on which the Son of God died for our sins. Charles Schultz was a believing Christian as well as the author of Peanuts. “Good Grief” says Charlie Brown. Grief can be good. It can show our loss, the regard for another person, the ability of sympathize. Grief can be the reason we turn out lives around. This is a Good Friday because of the death of one man who is also the Son of God, the whole world is saved. Though we may be in desperation on our life pilgrimage there is the Hope of Resurrection. But there is no Resurrection without the Friday, which is good.
