Father Owen's Homilies
Homily for Easter Sunday, March 31, 2002 Last evening I spoke just a bit on the light shattering the darkness because of the Resurrection of Jesus. This morning I want to stress the fact that in our liturgies we have not just been remembering Jesus. Our liturgies have not been like a gathering at the cemetery for Memorial Day. We were not alive when Jesus lived. Still Jesus wants to come to us and be intimate with us alive in our own space and time. Jesus touches us through these liturgies, these Sacraments. We do not just have a fond memory of Jesus. We have within us, in the world, in our brothers and sisters a Living Jesus who is within us and in our sisters and brothers always. Not even our sins can drive Love away from our hearts. This is the real joy of Easter. We have hope and life. We have Eternal Life available to us. It begins in time, this time, our time.
