Approximately 1120 suppers were served in quick fashion through two buffet lines to help St. Mary’s Parish raise more than $21,000 at the summer Picnic on Sunday, June 24. This compares to a net income of $19,034 in 2006; $19,095 in 2005; $21,421 in 2004 and $18,155 in 2003. The “Dunk Tank” was a popular new event, raising $288.75, which compared to the old standby “card game” had a net of only $262 and a ‘dime toss’ raising $631. Thanks to all those who supported the parish picnic, and parishioners who provided food and worked at the event.
The total proceeds from the auction were $7000. These included items such as: Oak bookcase donated by Nordhus Woodworking, $400 purchased by Raymond and JoAnn Schmitz. Father Owen’s bike, donated by Gene and Karen Holthaus, $160, purchased by Richard and Betty Sudbeck. The prices and purchases of the quilts are shown below.
1. Fulton’s Circle: $450, purchased by Arlene Schmitz
2. Half Log Cabin, $550, purchased by Ambrose Schmitz
3. Ribbons & Stars, $800, purchased by Gilbert and Teresa Stallbaumer
4. Anniversary Stars, $650, purchased by Wayne and Carol Schmitz
Thanks again to the many businesses that donated auction items or contributed towards bingo prizes.
